Pirates Are Stupid For 3 Reasons

A guy walks into a pub with a t-shirt that says "Pirates are stupid for 3 reasons!" He walks up to the bar, orders an ale, and sits down. He no more than gets his quaff when a smelly old sot comes up to him and says, "Aaargh, thar, matey! What's that yer shirt be sayin' thar?"

The guy looks around, looks the man straight in the eyes (well, in his one good eye, anyway), and says "Reason number 1 -- Pirates can't read!" Then he turns around to enjoy his beverage.

Not used to this sort of disrespect, the surly gent takes his hooked arm, lays it aggressively on the man's shoulder, and slowly says, "What's that ye be sayin' thar, sonny-boy?"

The guy looks around again, looks his aggressor square in the eye this time, and enunciates, "Rea-son num-ber 2 -- Pirates can't hear!" And again, he turns around to face the bar.

Well, by this time, the old codger has had enough. He backs up, pulls his sword, and growls, "Aaaaargh, ye bilge rat, that be enuff of yer sass! Stand up and fight, ye lubber, yer soon to be acquainted with Davy Jones, his-self!"

With that, the guy stands up, pulls his pistol, and shoots the pirate dead through his one good eye. He drops his head as he watches him fall, sighs, and says, "Reason #3 -- You pirates are constantly bringing swords to gunfights!"

Who Are My Favorite Bands

Who are my favorite bands and can I prove it statistically?  Well, yes I can.  In Windows Media Player (I ain't an Apple clone) you can sort artist by total time and number of tracks.  This reveals the Top Ten (all time in hours and minutes):

1. Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band    439 tracks, 28:39 hours/minutes
2.  Jackson Browne                                            74 tracks, 5:28
3.  Gary P. Nunn                                                 89 tracks, 5:25
4.  AC/DC                                                          35 tracks, 2:12
5.  Chicago                                                         51 tracks, 2:11
6.  Brent Burns                                                   34 tracks, 1:50
7.  Band of Heathens                                          24 tracks, 1:45
8.  Jerry Jeff Walker                                           23 tracks, 1:30
9.  Lynyrd Skynrd                                               16 tracks, 1:24
10. Styx                                                               17 tracks, 1:21

Pretty accurate analysis (Top Five, exactly right).  If you add Tom Petty to Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers they would come in at number 7 with 30 tracks and 1:45 hours.  If you add Jamie Wilson, Kelley Mickwee, and The Trishas you would be at 20 tracks and 1:19 hours, good for number 12.  The new Trishas album will put them solidly in the Top Ten.

Styx and REO Speedwagon Rock!

Excellent concert tonight at the CWM Pavilion with REO Speedwagon and Styx.  First time for REO and they were really good.  Last saw Styx at the Beaumont Civic Auditorium in 1978.  Both show were great, 34 years apart.

Weather was beautiful, cool breeze and clear sky.

Nice Round of Golf

I enjoyed a nice round of golf this afternoon at Pine Crest in Houston.  Played with friends from work and dodged the forecast rain and storms.  In fact it was quite warm and then hot when the wind died down.  I hit a few good shots including a very nice and long drive on 18 (spoiled by bad iron shots and bad chipping).  I made a par on one par three by yelling loud enough to have the ball roll one more revolution and go in.  I need to play more often.

Great Show by The Trishas at Main Street Crossing

First time to see a show at Main Street Crossing in Tomball and I have to say it is an excellent venue.  The acoustics were good, has good sight lines and tasty hamburgers.  Also cold Lone Star.  We had a front row table for the show and as usual these ladies were fantastic.  Their Canadian friend Brandy played lap steel, electric guitar, and accordion.  Brandy also sang two songs by herself and one with Kelley.  She has a good voice and writes some interesting lyrics.

If you like good live music you really need to go see The Trishas if they are playing near you.  You will have a good time. And if you can listen to a live version of Till I'm Too Old To Die Young without a goose bump or tear in the eye, well, then you may be an alien or not have a pulse.

Off To See The Trishas

About to leave for The Trishas at Main Street Crossing.  Greatest chick band in the world!

Good show with Band of Heathens

First time to see Band of Heathens.  Very good performance and I enjoyed their sound.  Would go see them again when they are in town.
