Ho, Ho, Ho!!!

To All My liberal/progressive Friends:

Please accept with no obligation, implied or explicit, my best wishes
for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress,
non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice
holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious
persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with
respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of
others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions
at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and
medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally
accepted calendar year 2014, but not without due respect for the
calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society
have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is
necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the
Western Hemisphere. Also, this wish is made without regard to the race,
creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of
the wishee.

To My libertarian/conservative Friends:

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

The Trishas tonight at Dosey Doe Music Cafe

Looking forward to the show tonight, always a great music and entertainment experience.  Will be a little sad that Liz Foster will not be here tonight.  She a small person to have such a big and powerful voice.  She has a great smile and seems to be a genuine, awesome human being.  We will miss you Liz, but can't wait for the next time you are performing in Texas again.

London Calling

London is one of my favorite cities in the world.  For a day or or a week, there many things to see and do.  I like history, architecture, pubs (beer), art, museums, and walking.  This is the place for all of these and more.  The food is also not bad, from the traditional pub food, to modern Italian.

It is a great city and is always nice to experience it with a good friend.

Jimmy at Comerica was a blast

When Jimmy does not come to Houston, we go on the road to see Jimmy.  A nice warm day in downtown Detroit at Comerica Park, home of the Tigers.  We had our best seats ever, on the floor in the outfield, center section, row 17.  A great bonus was to have Jackson Browne open.  A great evening of fun and music.  As we walked back towards the Marriott, about three blocks from the stadium, we heard sirens and saw police and emergency vehicles coming from behind us.  We thought, oh crap, Saturday night in Detroit and something bad is going down.  Well, no, it was OK.  In the middle of the police and security caravan comes Jimmy, hanging out the limo window, waving at the fans leaving the concert.  He passed less than ten feet from where we were on the sidewalk.

Now four years since you left, we miss you and love you.  The wisteria in bloom in the spring reminds us of you and your favorite flower.

The Trishas and Courtney Patton @ Dosey Doe Music Cafe

As someone at my table Tweeted last night, "The Trishas and Courtney Patton are killing it", what a entertaining and fun concert was that last night at Dosey Doe Music Cafe?  The first sell out at Music Cafe (I got our tickets as soon as it showed on the schedule) and the packed house was not disappointed. Courtney Patton opened solo acoustic and was later joined by Jamie, then Brandy and Kelly.  Courtney's performance of The Fool from High, Wide & Handsome was very well done, as it should be since she wrote the song.

The Trishas opened with the big red curtain being drawn as they launched into Mother of Invention , the first track on H,W & H.  A great song to open with, kind of hat tip to motherhood and maybe Frank Zappa, and one that just sounds like a hit record to me.  They continued with almost every song from  H, W & H including Strangers, Little Sweet Cigars, Liars & Fools, Cheaters Game, Why, Rainin' Inside, and Gold & Silver.  All except Rainin' Inside I have heard performed live in concert and this is a very welcome addition to the set list.  Kelly has a sexy and expressive voice and this song is a perfect fit for her.  No Trishas concert is complete without a chicken love song by Liz (Chicken and Dumplings) and Jamie's story of a 93 year possum shooter (Alice).  These two need to be on the next album.

I can't complain about anything except that Courtney, Brandy, and The Trishas all playing together and just jamming for another hour would have been fantastic.
