As someone at my table Tweeted last night, "The Trishas and Courtney Patton are killing it", what a entertaining and fun concert was that last night at Dosey Doe Music Cafe? The first sell out at Music Cafe (I got our tickets as soon as it showed on the schedule) and the packed house was not disappointed. Courtney Patton opened solo acoustic and was later joined by Jamie, then Brandy and Kelly. Courtney's performance of The Fool from High, Wide & Handsome was very well done, as it should be since she wrote the song.
The Trishas opened with the big red curtain being drawn as they launched into Mother of Invention , the first track on H,W & H. A great song to open with, kind of hat tip to motherhood and maybe Frank Zappa, and one that just sounds like a hit record to me. They continued with almost every song from H, W & H including Strangers, Little Sweet Cigars, Liars & Fools, Cheaters Game, Why, Rainin' Inside, and Gold & Silver. All except Rainin' Inside I have heard performed live in concert and this is a very welcome addition to the set list. Kelly has a sexy and expressive voice and this song is a perfect fit for her. No Trishas concert is complete without a chicken love song by Liz (Chicken and Dumplings) and Jamie's story of a 93 year possum shooter (Alice). These two need to be on the next album.
I can't complain about anything except that Courtney, Brandy, and The Trishas all playing together and just jamming for another hour would have been fantastic.
